FEMALE REFEREES GIVEN GREENLIGHT FOR MALE COMPETITIONS

The confederation of African football, in the course of her CAF REFEREES COMMITTEE MEETING IN CAIRO, has taken strategic inroads in the development of women talents in football by making history ahead of the u-17 AFCON to be held in Tanzania from April 14-28, 2019.

CAF has appointed for the first time, in her history women Referees to serve in a men’s tournament, as a way of availing them the platform to exhibit their potentials on the bigger stage. Tanzania referee Jonesia Rukyaa kabakama, Kenya’s Mary Wanjiru Njoroge and Madagascar’s Lidwine Rakotozafinoro will join 26 other match officials for a training course in Morocco from March 31-4 April 2019.

The eight participating teams are Nigeria, Angola, Uganda, Guinea, Cameroon, Morocco, Senegal and Tanzania with the Semifinalists qualifying for the u-17 Fifa world cup in 2020.
