Mr Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector-General of Police has ordered the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, DIG Anthony Ogbizi to immediately start investigations into circumstances surrounding the killing of Tiyamiyu Kazeem, Remo Stars Vice-Captain.
There have been concerns over conflicting reports over his death, while the Police Force claims he was knocked down by a vehicle when trying to resist arrest, eyewitnesses said he was pushed out of a moving vehicle by officers of the law and knocked down in the process.
sparked outrage by some aggrieved residents who took to the streets to protest the killing of Mr Kazeem, accusing the Police of wrongdoing.
Asides giving the order, the IGP commiserates with the family and friends of the deceased and asked them to be calm, patient and assured that justice will be done in the matter while reiterating that any person found culpable will be brought to book.
Tiyamiyu Kazeem was Assistant Captain and Defender of Remo Stars Football club until his death on Saturday, February 22, 2020.
