LAGOS STATE: UBER, BOLT, OTHERS TO GET NEW DRIVER VEHICLE DOCUMENTATION

The Lagos State Ministry of Transport has said that it is in the process of reviewing and issuing new documents for drivers of ride-hailing companies such as Uber, Bolt, O-Car etc, in Lagos State.

The body says each driver must possess The Lagos State Drivers’ Recertification card (LASDRI card), and a driver badge issued by the State’s Department of Public Transport and Commuter Services.

The State wants every vehicle to have the following; A State Hackney Permit issued by the Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA) and Vehicle Body Tag issued by Lagos State Ministry of Transport’s Department of Public Transport and Commuter Services.

Talks are still on-going with the State’s Ministry of Transport to help bridge the gap between the drivers, ride-hailing companies and the Government agencies.

Though these requirements are not yet in force, it is expected to commence from March 1, 2020.

More details are expected from the Ministry of Transportation in the coming days.
