The lower legislative chamber, the House of Representatives on Friday showed their displeasure with the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, on the recent cancellation of the West African Senior Secondary School Examinations (WASSCE), while maintaining that such approach was only having a damaging effect on the future of Nigerian children.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Basic Education, Prof Julius Ihonbvare relayed the information in a statement in Abuja.
He maintained that the announcement by the minister failed to follow due process and was carried out without meeting relevant Authorities in the education sector.
He also felt that the change in plans portrays decision-makers as persons who may be adopting an unrealistic approach in confronting the coronavirus rather than taking feasible steps to handle it.
