Chidinma Ojukwu, a 300 level Mass Communication student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), who was arrested on June 23, by detectives from the homicide unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, for allegedly stabbing the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, Usifo Ataga to death in a rented apartment at Lekki area of Lagos State, has narrated how she killed him.
Chidinma after being paraded as a suspect by the State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, confessed she dated the 50 year old Ataga for about four months before the ugly incident occurred on June 15, 2021, at a Short Service Apartment situated at No. 19, Adewale Oshin street, Lekki, Phase 1, Lagos.
According to her;
“on the day the incident took place, we were in a lodge smoking. He tried making advances at me, I resisted him on the ground of being tired. But later on allowed him have his way. He came to me and I was like am not happy with what you did, you don’t help nor assist with anything, you are just playing with me. He was like, ‘Take my ATM and withdraw what you want”.
“At some point, he was chasing me around the kitchen cabinet. I took a knife and stabbed his neck. I approached the door and he followed me. I stabbed him twice on the neck side. I threw the knife to the bed and he was going for it but I also went for it. He dragged the knife with me and it broke and he fell on the floor”.
The undergraduate also confessed that after killing Ataga, she withdrew #380,000 from his account using his ATM card.
The owner of the rented apartment where the tragic incident took place was arrested. While Ataga’s account was blocked to prevent further withdrawals by those who would want to take advantage of his untimely death to deplete the account.
According to the State Commissioner of Police, Odumosu, the investigation is ongoing and the case will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
